Hello again! This month’s offering is very special to me. This summer I had the pleasure to attend a wonderful workshop with the incomparable Lynne Perrella in Taos, NM at the Mabel Dodge Lujan House. Lynne is a fabulous teacher; kind, patient, and giving of herself and her ideas and techniques. Not only was the workshop excellent but some of the most wonderful folks I’ve ever met were also in attendance. A group of us banded together to do a traveling book swap. Each participant will create their own book and choose a theme. Those books will travel between us throughout the year as we each contribute to one another’s books, using the techniques we learned from Lynne.

This post showcases my book with the theme of Baroque. The Baroque period is all about lush (perhaps over the top) decor, featuring a lot of gold and jewels. Of course there is much more to the period than that but for my purposes, I’m all about the gold! The inside pages are gessoed and gilded at the edges and ready for the various artists to create their own take on the theme. By the time it reaches me again at the end of the year it will be full of splendor!

Heather, you have definitely captured a wonderful baroque feel to this beautiful album! The embossing is truly beautiful and the golden provincial edging on the back is stunning. How wonderful that this will circulate among your new found crafty friends too – such a great idea!
